Why We Created a Waikōloa Village Second Road FAQ

Over the past several years, and especially following wildfire evacuations and recent community meetings, Wildfire Safety Advocates of Waikōloa has heard the same questions over and over again.

Why don’t we already have a permanent second road?

Didn’t the developer promise to build it?

Is the County responsible?

Why does everyone seem to hear something different?

These questions are understandable. They stem from genuine concern about safety and follow years of misinformation and hearsay.

The challenge is that the answers are not simple, and they are often distorted as they pass from meeting to meeting, neighbor to neighbor, or social media post to social media post.

To help bring clarity, we created a Waikōloa Village Second Road FAQ.

This document pulls together public records, planning history, and governing agreements to explain what has happened, what has not, and why the second road remains unbuilt today.

The goal of this FAQ is not to defend any one party or point fingers. It is to ensure our community is working from the same set of facts.

We encourage residents, community leaders, and decision-makers to read the full FAQ and share it widely.
