Mark your calendars! Our next Wildfire Safety Community Meeting is Wednesday, July 8 at 5:30 PM in the Waikōloa Village Community Room.
We are happy to share that we will have a special guest. A representative from the Waikōloa Greens project will join us for a talk story about their plans for the land near the village. After sitting down with their team last week, we are encouraged by their interest in understanding our second road needs and in finding ways to support wildfire safety here.
A little background on the project: Waikōloa Greens has proposed a large development on roughly 700 acres mauka of the village. The plans include multifamily housing near Pua Melia Street, family-agricultural lots, space for a possible food hub and renewable energy, and about 110 acres of open space and trails. The project recently received a positive recommendation from the Leeward Planning Commission, with a condition that the developer report on progress toward a new evacuation road. Please come with your questions. We want to keep building a good working relationship with this team, and an open, neighborly conversation is the best way to do that.
We hope to see you there!
